Most of us look forward to the Christmas break, spending time with friends and family and switching off from work for a few days. Here at Splice our team are taking a well-earned break, but how many of us still check our emails, take a call or even continue to work from home?
It’s a difficult balance to get right, but it is important to ensure we don’t let our own wellbeing take a back seat. Too many of us don’t take a proper break. This doesn’t make us heroes, instead it can make us unwell as stress and anxiety increases and our mental health suffers. So we know you’re busy but we’d like to share a little Splice advice:
- Try not to check work emails, even if it’s only for a couple of days. If, like us, you have published your Christmas opening hours, customers won’t be expecting an immediate reply anyway. Use an ‘out of office’ setting on your emails to let customers know you won’t be available.
- Focus on friends and family. Be fully in the moment, push thoughts of work aside and enjoy this special time. Put the laptop away, turn off your work mobile and hide the paperwork.
- Plan fun things to do, perhaps tackle a job at home that you have been putting off.
- Don’t rush. Allow plenty of time to get things done at a relaxing pace. Watch those favourite Christmas films, allow yourself to doze in front of the fire and take time choosing your next Quality Street!
You and your business will reap the rewards. January will soon arrive and healthy happy staff will return relaxed and motivated for the year ahead.
Splice Creative will be closed for the Christmas holidays after Thursday 21st December. We will reopen for business on Monday 8th January. We wish all our clients, past, present and future, a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2018.
As in previous years, instead of sending Christmas cards we have chosen to make a donation to one of our favourite charities. PACT Animal Sanctuary does great work rescuing neglected and unwanted animals of all shapes and sizes in Norfolk and Suffolk. It is where we discovered the predecessor to our office mascot Blue so we have seen their dedication and determination to help rehome and rehabilitate animals at first hand.
We would urge you to visit their website www.pactsanctuary.org if you are looking to rehome an animal or visit their charity shop on Market Hill in Diss.
