Things are looking good for Amy Rix who has spent the last year perfecting her graphic design and writing skills at Splice Creative.
The Diss High Sixth Form student has been working part-time for the design, branding and copywriting firm based in Mere Street.
Hired after a Year 12 work placement, Amy says her role has prepared her to take the next step and start her studies at the University of Lincoln in September.
“When I first started, I was quite a shy person,” admitted the 18-year-old from Roydon.
“But after working for Splice Creative, I’m now so much more confident in my ideas and in myself.
“I have worked on graphic design, illustrations for clients, writing and updating the website, and even creating the front cover for Durrant’s latest catalogue.
“The design side of my work is what I’ve loved the most.”
Amy is one of eight local students which Splice Creative offered work experience since moving into their Diss offices.
Kerry Kirby, director of Splice Creative, said: “I got a lot out of work experience when I was younger and we wanted to put something back into the community and help others make a start in their career.
“It’s great to have young, talented people getting involved and Amy has built up an impressive portfolio – helping her stand out in the future.”
Amy added: “I have had the opportunity to get the experience, which many people my age haven’t.
“I’d definitely recommend work experience with Splice Creative.”
